A design that leaves no one indifferent is the one executed by Rafael Viñoly Arquitects for Building 335 at the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation headquarters in East Hanover, New Jersey.
The Novartis Building, a 13,000 m2 oncology office building at Novartis' North American headquarters and overlooking the sprawling campus, provides cancer researchers with a humanized, flexible and sustainable work environment that facilitates the dynamic management processes necessary for multidisciplinary research.
Spaces of strong connectivity where all people and offices are interconnected through levels, stairs and corridors that separate as well as unite, offering alternative ways of interconnection, circulation and privacy.
The 800 workspaces are fully illuminated by natural light thanks to the triple-laminated curtain wall façade that brings energy efficiency and advanced technology to the building envelope.
The curtain wall installed to achieve a combined "dark clear" effect is composed of three different types of glass. One of them, our acid-etched satin-finished glass SatenLux® mounted on a chambered glass positioned on face 1. SatenLux® together with the other two types of glass, allows the building to be completely integrated into the landscape.
The ethereal effect required numerous drawing and model studies due to its complex geometry.
