General Information
SEVASA glass is a natural and extremely durable material, which remains unalterable over time, without degrading or fading. It only needs proper handling and minimal maintenance to last almost a lifetime.
However, glass is glass.
And it can break, scratch and stain during the processes of transformation, handling, storage, transport and installation, where aggressive machinery and chemicals are used and when adequate glass protection measures are not taken.
To avoid this, SEVASA recommends:
- Clean with clean water or non-abrasive products. Do not use alkaline products and petroleum products (such as gasoline) and under no circumstances hydrofluoric acid and phosphoric acid.
- Do not use metal blades or brushes that may scratch the surface.
- Avoid cleaning the glass in direct sunlight or with hot glass.
For more information on cleaning, see Maintenance.
Storage
- Store the glass in a dry place to avoid oxidation and to protect from sun and dust.
- The use of a blotting material between sheets is recommended.
- In case of wet glass, it should be unpacked, dried and re-stored with separators that allow the passage of air between glass sheets.
- It is recommended to store the glass with an inclination of 4 degrees from the vertical, placing the base of the sheet first before resting it on another sheet to avoid scratches.
Transformation
- Laminate: the treated side should face outward.
- Cuts straight or circular, beveling, grinding, drilling, notching and V-beveling: Work like float, on a clean cutting table, it is advisable to orient the satin face on the opposite side of the cutting table.
- Curving: can be curved from both sides of the float.
- Screen printing: can be silk-screened on both sides.
- Silver coating: Preferably on the untreated face.
- Lacquer coating: preferable on the untreated side.
- Double glazing: It is preferable to face the treated side inwards during assembly to facilitate maintenance. The use of silicone for the double glazing seal is not permitted when the coated side is in position 2 or 3.
* SEVASA does not perform subsequent transformations or installation of its frosted glass products.
These recommendations are for guidance only and in no case replace the judgment of the professional/company responsible for making them.
Installation
- In wet areas (shower enclosures, shower cabins, etc.) it is advisable to install with the treated side facing outwards: when wet it remains transparent until it dries.
- Protect from possible acid splashes, metal profile cleaners, brick or masonry cleaners and weld splatter. Remove all cement residue, adhesives or labels and paint.
- SEVASA glasses installed correctly do not require special precautions. They remain unalterable.
