Van Gogh Museum - CriSamar STEP Lunaris - X

The unique Van Gogh Museum building in Amsterdam stands as one of the most architecturally and culturally interesting places in Europe.

Of impressive grandeur and size, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is one of the most unique buildings in Europe. Built between 1999 and 2015, it consists of two main blocks, the Rietveld Building and the Kurowaka wing, connected by a central glass hall.

Its light appearance is due to the peculiar construction system that has been an architectural challenge. The hall, precisely, is open and transparent and very specific architectural techniques had to be used for the use of glass.

At SEVASA, we are proud to know that our CriSamar® STEP Lunaris-X is the protagonist of the central stairs of this hall, providing anti-slip safety, as well as lightness, beauty and light diffusion throughout the space.

Kisho Kurokawa Architect & Associates made a sketch, although the idea has been developed and materialized by Dutch architects Hans van Heeswijk Architectsafter the Japanese architect passed away in 2007.

The new glass structure, which represents an additional eight hundred square meters of floor space, is located between the original museum building designed by Gerrit Rietveld and the temporary exhibition wing, also designed by the late architect Kisho KurokawaThis facilitates their mutual access.
