Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Yes, SEVASA's acid etching process, which involves the transformation of the glass surface, results in a frosted or etched glass. both translucent and transparentdepending on the technique and technology used.
- For applications requiring glass without reflections but with maximum luminosity or very high transparency, please contact us. There are several options.
- For applications that require the combination of transparency / opacity in the same part, see Graduel®the leading progressive transition satin finish on the market.
- For applications requiring a high-safety, non-slip and transparent floor glass, please refer to the models in the CriSamar® STEP T Series.
- For applications requiring a smooth satin glass with high resistance to scratches and stains and maximum brightness, see LuxFine® Antiscratch.
For any other application that requires transparency and cannot be found in our product search enginePlease contact SEVASA directly.
Remember that we have other products available as well as customized production adapted to your specific needs.
Glasses Antiscratch, LuxRaff® and LuxFine®SEVASA's acid-etched glasses have an extraordinary resistance to scratches and stains, up to level 6 on the MOHS scale and up to 4 times higher than standard acid-etched glasses.
Its hardness means that sometimes, in contact with an abrasive or metallic utensil traces on the surface of the material of the tool itself used. It looks like a scratch but it is actually the degradation of the material, which disappears when wiped with a cloth or a bit of water.
It takes a real intention to scratch a SEVASA Antiscratch with the help of chemicals or aggressive tools to achieve this.
It is obviously a glass, and although tempered, it can break and deteriorate with the use of machinery or improper handling.
As for stains, it is obvious that if any element falls on the glass, it will get dirty and sometimes appear stained. The difference of the Antiscratch is that this dirt will disappear with a simple cleaning.while in other frosted glasses it remains.
There are other brands on the market that market with impunity their false characteristics of resistance to scratches and stains. The differences between products are enormous, with some of those tested by SEVASA being level 2 on the aforementioned Mohs Scale. Ensure and demand from your supplier the guarantee of certification of the services offered..
New high scratch and stain resistant glass LuxRaff® Antiscratch breaks with all the old clichés that "glass is delicate".
With a surface hardness index of 6 on the Mohs scale (higher than materials commonly used in countertops such as marble or granite and equal to the quartz used by prestigious commercial brands), the use of SEVASA glass in these applications provides outstanding advantages:
- Ensures interior design innovativeThe 100% is an elegant look and sophisticated appearance, with a modern and above all 100% recyclable material.
- With a practical and simple maintenance.
- Satin glass LuxRaff® Antiscratch is naturally antibacterial.
- Get the purer colorsincluding perfect white, using an extra-clear glass base.
- And it can be tempered and laminated.
SEVASA produces the floor glass CriSamar® STEP and LuxRaff® Antiscratch in sheet form. Provides the technical characteristics of resistance, anti-slip and its certifications for different architectural applications, whether regulated by law or as required by the architect.
However, data such as the glass thickness should be calculated according to the dimensions, type of support or anchorage, type of use, location and type of room, frequency of passage, etc. and transformation needs that SEVASA's walkable glass will require.
In these cases, and since it requires special precautions and specifications, both in terms of transformation and installation, it is advisable that the architect and the glazier who assesses the project contrast criteria and professional experience.
Yes, SEVASA offers you different finishes in non-slip floor glass, all with different levels of anti-slip:
- Non-slip translucent smooth LuxRaff® Antiscratch.
- The transparent engravings of the CriSamar® STEP T-Series.
- The translucent engravings of the CriSamar® STEP S and X Series.
If there is any limitation it will be due to the anti-slip safety requirements of the project manager or glazier, depending on the type of application, location, national regulations of the country of installation, etc. which may limit the options. For example: transparent etched models tend to offer lower slip resistance (depending on the test method).
Yes. Some household cleaners contain additives such as gloss enhancers, colorants, etc. that can leave traces on satin glass. In these cases, adding more product only makes the situation worse.
One of SEVASA's glass characteristics is that once installed, it does not require any special maintenance. A simple cleaning with neutral soap, even just water, is enough to make them look splendid.
Temporarily yes, until it dries.
All frosted glass loses its opacity characteristic as long as it is in contact with water and until it dries. Therefore, in bathrooms, shower cabins and shower enclosures, it is a habit to place the frosted side facing outwards.
The same applies to curtain walls or glazed roofs when the matting is installed outwards and it rains. However some architects have taken advantage of this characteristic with the objective of gaining luminosity on rainy days and providing a dynamic and differentiated look to your projects.
Like any other glass, during storage, moisture from the air can seep between the stacked sheets and attack their surface with the sodium hydroxide that is generated if it remains on the sheet for too long.
To avoid this, regular cleaning is recommended, and in case the glass gets wet, it should be unpacked, dried and re-stored with separators that allow air to pass between sheets or use a drying material between sheets.
The installed glass will hardly reach these conditions because the same air circulation, rain, or cleaning will prevent it.
Yes, exactly the same as all other sizes. The features of all XXL products -currently up to 9000mm- of SEVASA are exactly the same. They can be laminated, tempered, curved, etc.
However, the architect and designer must take into account the type of processing required and ask the glazier about its limitations in terms of type of machinery, transport possibilities, mounting possibilities, etc. For example, not all transformers are prepared for XXL sheets.
- Because SEVASA's frosted glass is extremely durable, it remains unalterable over time, without degrading or fading. Its products are a guarantee of quality and technical performance.
- Architects, designers and glaziers prefer it because it allows to choose the desired level of brightness, light diffusion and privacy with different products available, allowing customization.
- They prefer it for its homogeneity of satin and color both in sheets and in subsequent replacements.
- Highly appreciated by the glass industry because its quality is evident during the glass transformation processes.
- For the constant technical innovation of SEVASA's products, which are always one step ahead of the sector.
- SEVASA's frosted glass is an environmentally friendly and 100% recyclable material.
- For the commitment and management in sustainability certified with ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental.
- And for its nearly 30 years of experience: its brands such as Satenglas®., SatenDecor® and Crisamar® have become generic names in the architectural and decorative acid-etched glass sector.
SEVASA is specialized in the matting and acid etching of whole sheets of flat glass. The company's production is of high technical quality and industrial capacity, served to the Professional Glaziery for further processing and installation..
If you are an architect, builder, designer or other type of prescriber, you will need to establish what type of transformations the glass will require according to your project, so the best way to evaluate a quotation is to contact your trusted glassworks directly and request the SEVASA glass of your interest.
Ask us about the performance of SEVASA's satin glass. We can advise you in the choice of the right glass and in its prescription if you provide us with the details of your project (see section "Glass and glass products").Prescription / Choosing the right glass").
