Matt, frosted, satin, translucent, opaque, acid-etched... glass is called by as many names as possible applications. They are generic definitions that define different processes, but only one offers the best performance and quality: the acid etching technique.
The choice of an etched glass can be a challenge due to the many possibilities it offers, and especially difficult when unscrupulous companies exaggerate the performance of their products, or even untrue.
Natural outdoor light is the best illumination for assessing the color - transmitted and reflected - of a glass sample. If possible it should not be direct sunlight, preferably from a partly cloudy day. Only a good product prescription -especially when value-added glasses or distinctive technical characteristics are chosen- ensures the achievement of the design planned by the architect or designer.
If the choice of an etched glass can be a challenge due to the large number of possibilities it offers, extrapolating that decision among the different manufacturing companies offering similar products can be an impossible task.
